"It's not Rocket Science" is a video that provides a direct and intimate insight into the reasons why the Northmoor Home Zone is regarded as an outstanding example of best practice in urban regeneration.

Home Zones, which were pioneered in the Netherlands, provide safer, more pleasant environments in the midst of urban residential areas, utilising a unique approach to traffic-calming.

In 2001, the Northmoor Home Zone won the titles of Best Regeneration Scheme and Best Overall Scheme from the Institute of Housing. It has also been named runner-up for the British Urban Regeneration Award (BURA) 2003.

In this video, the residents of Northmoor, as well as the architects, engineers, contractors and others involved, reveal their experiences, advice and concerns in a comprehensive and frank account that encompasses the whole process of creating a Home Zone.

Commissioned by the Department for Transport in association with the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority and the Manchester Engineering Design Consultancy, this video will be an invaluable inspiration to any organisation contemplating the creation of a Home Zone in their area.
